Gathering 1:  Welcome

THIS WEEK

  • Important Information

    • A warm welcome to all of our families!  We are so glad to see you and are excited to join you in your faith journey.

    • We are also welcoming a new staff member - our Pastoral Associate, Angela!  If you have any questions regarding Family Faith Formation, please email her at pa.englishparishes.verdun@gmail.com and she will be happy to help you out.

  • FAQ

    • How long is the program?  What are the dates for the Sacraments?

      • If your family was enrolled in a pre-pandemic catechism program or if you participated in the last course (February 2021 to June 2021), your children will be receiving their Sacraments in Spring 2022.

      • If the Fall 2021 session is your family's first course, you are on a 2-year program that will conclude with your children receiving their Sacraments in Spring 2023.

    • When are the Sessions?

      • Saturday mornings, 10:00am to 11:00am via Zoom

      • Zoom invitations are sent out each week prior to Saturday (please check your spam/junk folders if you're not receiving them, and contact your Primary Catechist or our Pastoral Associate).

    • Who participates in the Sessions?

      • Our program is designed for the parents to be the main participants in Zoom.  We provide the materials, questions, activity suggestions, and assistance to help parents be the primary educators for their children.  Children are welcome to attend the sessions if they wish, but at least one parent should be in attendance each Saturday.

    • Do we take attendance?

      • Yes, we do.

      • If you know in advance that you won't be present at a Session, please let your Primary Catechist or our Pastoral Associate know.

    • What happens if my family misses a session?

      • All the Zoom sessions are recorded and posted to the Saint Willibrord's website after the Session.  Each Session page also has a copy of the weekly reflection questions, famil activity, and extra resources.

      • If you miss any sessions, we ask that you make an extra effort to do the reflection questions and to get in touch with your Primary Catechist or our Pastoral Associate if you have any questions.

    • Can my family do this course using only the Zoom recordings?

      • The Zoom recordings are provided to help you catch up if you miss a session here and there, but they are not intended to completely replace active participation the live sessions for the entire duration of the course.

      • If you have an unavoidable scheduling conflict, such as weekend shift rotations for work or a unique family circumstance, that would affect your attendance regularly, please contact our Pastoral Associate.

    • Is there homework?

      • Each week we provide two reflection questions for you.  We ask that you send your answers back to your Primary Catechist before the next Session.

      • We also provide activities that can help you get together as a family so that you can discuss the Session topic together.

    • Are the extra resources "required reading" for the course?

      • No, not at all! The extra resources provided for each Session are the "bonus content" for the course for those who want to explore the Catholic faith a little more deeply on their own.  You can read them if you wish, whenever you're able to and at your own pace.  And, of course, if you want to talk about any of it, the Family Faith Formation is here for you!

    • Will we be moving to in-person sessions?

      • We hope to be moving back to in-person sessions as soon as provincial restrictions allow us to do so.
