Confirmation Mass - Sign-up Sheet!

**This information was also sent via email on May 9th 2022**

As the Catechists have mentioned at previous Gatherings, service is an important component of living the faith. To help everyone put this into action in our parish community we're inviting all the kids in the Confirmation class to take on a role of service at the Confirmation Mass on May 28th!

There are several roles that need to be filled at the Confirmation Mass, so please use the following form to have your child sign up for one:
https://forms.gle/3b1L53kx4e5KD2aM8
(Please make sure to put your child's name in the first question!)

Each role requires a certain amount of participants, and once a role's requirement is met it will disappear from the list - so make sure to sign up early!  The deadline for this form is by the end of the Retreat Day on Sunday, May 15th.

Recording:  Only families who are enrolled in the Family Faith Formation program have access to the recordings of the Zoom sessions.  If you are enrolled, please contact Angela (pa.englishparishes.verdun@gmail.com) if you require the link again.

Parents' Reflections:

  • Can you recall a time when you chose to stand alone, and not take part in actions/words that would hurt another?  How can we use these times to teach our children to pray for the courage to make these moral decisions?

Children's Reflections

  • Has there been an instance where you felt you had wronged someone and didn’t apologize for it?  If so, how did that make you feel?  It were to happen again, would you choose to take the opportunity to apologize?

  • Has a friend or sibling ever hurt you, didn’t apologize, but you chose to forgive them anyways?  Was it difficult?  What do you think helped you to forgive them?

  • Is there an organization or cause that is special to you, that you would like to support by volunteering your time and talents?

Parents' Reflections:

  • As parents, it can sometimes feel like all we do is be of service to others and meet their needs.  How can a relationship with God help you be of service to yourself, and help you meet your own needs?

Children's Reflections

  • What was your favourite part about today’s Gathering?

  • Think of a community you belong to (such as your class, a team you’re on or an activity you do with a group, or your family).  In that community, how can you be of service to others and help them?

  • Today you learned how grace is a gift from God that helps us live how He wants us to live – it helps us do what’s right.  Can you think of one or two situations where grace could really help you do the right thing, even though at first it might be hard to do so?

Parents' Reflections:

  • When you were preparing for your own Confirmation, what questions did you have about the Sacrament?  Did your catechist, teacher, or parish priest answer your biggest questions?  If not, did you eventually get the answers you were looking for, or are you still looking for those answers?

  • As your own child is now preparing for their Confirmation, what questions do you think they have?

  • What do you want them to learn or take away from this experience?

Children's Reflections

  • What was your favourite part about today’s Gathering?

  • In today's Gathering, we talked about the signs of the Holy Spirit:  water, oil, the dove, fire, and wind.  Which sign struck you as the most unusual or unexpected?

  • Do you have any questions about Confirmation?

Faith and Reason!
Follow along with this video here, which will show you how to do an at-home science experiment that can help you visualize how the Holy Spirit is always with us to help and protect us throughout our lives.  Just make sure your devices are far away from the water!

Confirmation Word Bank

Here's the sheet with the Confirmation Word Bank!  You can print it out or copy it by hand onto paper or index cards.  This study tool can be turned into a mix-and-match activity, where the words and definitions are separated so they can be shuffled and then matched together on a table or desk.  Or, you can put them into the traditional flash card format with the word on one side of a card and the definition on the other if that works better for you.

Colouring Sheets

For those of you who love colouring, here are some printable colouring sheets that can help you visualize the Holy Spirit.  How many symbols of the Holy Spirit can you find in the pictures?
