Arts & Crafts Camp The second annual St. Willibrord’s Arts and Crafts Day Camp took place from August 14 -19, 2005. There were twenty children, aged 7 to 13 participating in this popular event. This was a great opportunity for our young people to get together, make new friends and create some great art projects. The theme this year was God’s Family and each budding artist created a self-portrait to place on “God’s Family Tree”. Most of our crafts were constructed with materials derived from nature. A few examples are leaf printed cards, collages made with seeds, pods, dried herbs, etc. The children also produced beautiful pressed flower bookmarks with inspirational messages, colourful clay pots and wonderful paintings. During this fun-filled week there were two afternoon outings: one to the Natatorium for a refreshing swim and the other to the Atwater Market where our enthusiastic artists sketched the Lachine Canal, flower market and fruit stands. Each day, delicious and nutritious lunches and snacks were prepared for all by Marie Lafleche and her assistants. Thank you again to all of our wonderful volunteers without whom this whole week would not have been possible: Marie, Angele-Justine, Rosie, Danny, Tammy, Erin, Judy and of course, Sister Katherine. See you all next summer for another wonderful week of creating and sharing! |
